A Unique Collaboration: Alkaline Trio Joins the Fun

During DeLonge’s absence, Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba took on guitar and vocal duties for Blink-182, recording albums like California (2016) and Nine (2019). Although Skiba has since left the band following DeLonge's return, he did join them for a performance of “Bored To Death” at a benefit concert earlier this year. It's apparent that the bond between these bands runs deep as Alkaline Trio will support Blink-182 on all non-festival dates of the tour.

Friendships Rekindled

After DeLonge rejoined the band, he expressed his gratitude to Skiba through an open letter, saying, “Hi Matt, Tom DeLonge here. I wanted to take a minute and say thank you for all that you have done to keep the band thriving in my absence.” Skiba responded positively, saying he was “truly happy” for DeLonge and the band.

In the meantime, Mark Hoppus recently released a memoir titled Fahrenheit-182. In an engaging interview, he discussed how his cancer diagnosis helped mend his friendship with DeLonge. He shared, “It healed my friendship with Tom: from day one, he was like: ‘What do you need? I’m there.’”

A New Era for Blink-182

As Blink-182 continues to make waves in the music industry, it's reported that iconic ska-punk band Sublime is also working on new music with drummer Travis Barker. The pop-punk landscape is alive and thriving!
