Introducing Djo's New Single 'Potion'

Djo, the musical venture of actor Joe Keery from Stranger Things, has just dropped a catchy new single called 'Potion.' This track draws inspiration from the iconic vibes of Fleetwood Mac and is set to keep you grooving. You can listen to it below!

Upcoming Album and Previous Singles

With the release date of his new album The Crux set for April 4, you can pre-order it here. 'Potion' follows the previous singles 'Basic Being Basic' and 'Delete Ya,' which have already set the stage for what’s to come.

The Essence of 'Potion'

According to Djo, 'Potion' is reminiscent of a favorite pair of blue jeans. As Keery describes it, "I’d been working on Travis picking when I wrote this song, so it’s kind of like if Harry Nilsson and Lindsey Buckingham had a baby." This analogy really captures the warm, familiar, and laid-back feel of the track.

In this charming acoustic piece led by Keery's smooth falsetto, he showcases his musical talent, playing vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, bass, drums, percussion, and even a Mellotron!

Djo's Cover of Haim's 'Gasoline'

Earlier in the year, Djo covered Haim’s energetic single 'Gasoline' during a radio session, showcasing his versatility. The cover was a laid-back take on the track from Haim’s acclaimed album Women In Music Pt. III.

“I love that album,” Keery shared. “I think they're such great artists – I love that they’re sisters, and they make music together. I’ve got a big family, and my sisters are singing on my song ‘Basic…’. So I thought it would be sort of cool to pay homage to [Haim] for that reason.”

Keery emphasizes how he connects with the song's edge, stating, “I feel like sometimes in my own personal life, I don’t allow myself to express that edge. But through the song, I feel like I can kind of live in that for a second, and it feels good.”

Balancing Music and Acting

Djo has shared insights on the creative process behind his new album, discussing how he juggles his music and acting careers. “Having this kind of boiling throughout the whole thing… It’s been nice to have something else to work on,” he mentions, referring to his music career simmering alongside his work on Stranger Things.

He adds, “What I did was an extremely unique experience, even in the acting world. People don’t work on things for that long. Can you imagine how sad and weird I’d feel if I was just at home doing nothing? That would be bad for me.”

Upcoming Tour

Exciting news! Djo is gearing up for a tour across North America, the UK, and Europe later this year to promote his new album. If you're interested, you can find any remaining tickets here (US/Canada) and here (UK/Ireland).
