Pro-Ject Classic Reference Turntable
The new Classic Reference Turntable from Pro-Ject is a spectacular piece of craftsmanship. It features the upper-end EVO 9 AS HG 9″ tonearm equipped with high-precision ABEC 7 bearings housed in a massive aluminum gimbal. This design ensures frictionless, resonance-free operation, perfect for the discerning audiophile.
The tonearm is mounted on an aluminum alloy top plate, supported by TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) pods that are sandwiched between it and the MDF plinth. The S-shaped aluminum arm tube is internally damped and boasts a removable headshell, making cartridge swapping a breeze. The high-mass aluminum-alloy record platter is TPE damped and rotates on an aluminum subplatter that is belt-driven by an AC motor. The power is provided by Pro-Ject’s own DC/AC generator, effectively decoupling the turntable from the AC mains.
Now featuring balanced full-sized XLR outputs as standard, along with RCA outputs, the turntable is ready for use with the supplied Connect-it Phono E cable set. To enhance performance further, the package includes a Clamp-it record clamp and Leather-it record mat for additional resonance control.
Price: $5,999 for silver with a gloss black plinth; $6,999 for brass with an Acacia plinth (Special order only).
Wharfedale Super Linton Loudspeaker
Meet the Super Linton Loudspeaker—a premium option and a significant upgrade from the original Linton. Both speakers are three-way bass-reflex configurations, but the Super Linton boasts upgraded drivers. It features a new 25mm fabric tweeter in a damped rear chamber along with an enhanced motor system for the 200mm woven Kevlar cone bass driver. The Super Linton also utilizes the same 135mm woven Kevlar cone midrange unit found in its regular Linton counterpart.
The crossover has been redesigned and is now split onto two boards, improving overall performance. The cabinet has increased in height and incorporates dual layers of fiberboard coupled with latex-based damping glue, significantly reducing panel resonance to below audibility. Inside, the space is filled with long-hair fiber and strategically placed acoustic damping foam, aiding in the absorption of internal resonances. The speakers come in a choice of walnut, mahogany, and black wood veneers, with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms and sensitivity at 90dB.
Price: $2,799 per pair with stands; $2,499 per pair without stands.
McIntosh PS1K Subwoofer
At the core of the impressive new PS1K Subwoofer are two 13″ drivers using McIntosh’s proprietary Low Distortion High Performance (LD/HP®) Magnetic Circuit Design. This technology reduces distortion and enhances power handling. The woofers are built with multi-layer carbon-fiber cones, offering superior rigidity and minimizing flex even at high outputs.
The PS1K is powered by two 500-watt Class D amplifiers. Its sealed box design, along with a baffle that’s nearly 1.5″ thick, eliminates port noise and vibrations. With both balanced and unbalanced subwoofer connections, adjustable filters, and a parametric EQ, the PS1K can be fine-tuned for individual listening preferences.
Moreover, McIntosh’s signature Power Guard® and Sentry Monitor™ technologies are integrated into the PS1K to protect against overload and short circuits. Its eco-friendly signal-sensing and Power Control technology further enhance convenience and power efficiency, all wrapped in a sleek high-gloss black finish with carbon trim and an aluminum base.
Price: $35,000.
