Genesis Unveils Premium G7 Samba Speakers at Southwest Audio Fest 2025
Explore the cutting-edge features of the new G7 Samba speakers, a top-tier audio experience from Genesis Advanced Technologies.
Introduction
Woodinville, WA – Genesis Advanced Technologies has once again made waves in the audio industry by unveiling its new top-of-the-line offering, the G7 Samba loudspeakers, at the Southwest Audio Fest in Dallas, TX. Following the successful launch of a new entry-level lineup of passive floor-standing loudspeakers at the Pacific Audio Fest in 2023, the G7 Samba represents the culmination of two years of intensive development.
A Brief History of the G7 Series
The original Genesis® 7-series was introduced in 2005, starting with the bookshelf model G7c (Convertible), designed by the esteemed Arnie Nudell. This was soon followed by the G7p (Petite), crafted by his successor at Genesis, Gary Leonard Koh. The evolution continued in 2010 with the introduction of the G7f, a floor-standing model featuring an active side-firing woofer, which garnered the Best of Innovations award for Home Theater Speakers at the International CES that year. However, the series was retired in 2018 with plans for a re-launch in 2020.
Design Philosophy and Innovations
“The Samba was designed to utilize all the technologies we’ve developed in Genesis over the past 30 years,” said Gary Leonard Koh, Chief Designer and CEO of Genesis Advanced Technologies. “I was not content to just deliver a passive G7 line; I wanted to integrate what I learned from the development of the Genesis Maestro and Genesis Tribute in servo-control.”
Carolyn Koh, Vice President and COO, emphasized the quality of the sound, stating, “The beauty of Gary’s designs is such that even the ‘baby’ of the line is able to reproduce the full tones of a grand piano. And yet, he said he still wanted more. He wanted to be able to play electronic dance beats at full volume.”
Sound Quality and Performance
“All the models of the G7 series deliver more apparent bass than what you would expect from the -3dB point of the frequency response,” Gary noted. “However, I was playing ‘Frankie Goes to Hollywood’ loud one day on the Foxtrots and I wanted just a little bit more. If you want a full-on pipe organ, you will still need many more woofers, or bigger woofers, but I think that the Samba will get you most of the way there.”
Coming right after a glowing review of the G7 Foxtrot from The Tracking Angle, the G7 Samba now completes Genesis’ entry-level series, which includes the Minuet, Tango, Foxtrot, and now, Samba.
