Introducing PS Audio's Revolutionary PMG Signature Series Audio Components

Explore the cutting-edge sound quality and innovation of PS Audio’s new PMG Signature Series, designed for audiophiles seeking ultimate performance.

A Historic Launch in Boulder, Colorado

PMG Signature Preamplifier

On April 17, 2025, PS Audio unveiled their all-new PMG Signature Series, marking a monumental moment in the company's 50-year history. These top-of-the-line audio components promise to deliver unparalleled performance and musical realism, catering to audiophiles and music enthusiasts alike. The Signature Series features four remarkable models: the PMG Signature Preamplifier, PMG Signature 512 PureStream DAC, PMG Signature Phono Preamplifier, and PMG Signature SACD Transport. Each of these components is meticulously crafted to elevate your audio experience to new heights.

“These components aren’t simply an evolution; they’re a design and engineering revolution, created to transcend listeners’ expectations in every way imaginable.” – Paul McGowan, PS Audio CEO.

Stunning Design and User Experience

The PMG Signature components boast a visually striking appearance, featuring 1.5-inch thick machined aluminum front panels with a sleek, curved design. These models include touch-sensitive controls, which allow for intuitive navigation of all functions via an easy-to-use menu system. Enhancing the user experience further, each PMG Signature model can be operated with a newly designed remote control. Available in both silver and black, the components’ textured finishes complement any living space and audio system seamlessly.

Internally, the PMG Signature models are built with a chassis-within-a-chassis design aimed at maximizing isolation. This construction is coupled with premium internal components, multi-layer circuit boards, and various refinements that contribute to their superior performance.

PMG Signature Preamplifier

The PMG Signature Preamplifier stands as PS Audio's new flagship product. It achieves an astonishingly low noise and distortion floor of -150dB, allowing for explosive dynamics, deep soundstage, and holographic imaging. Designed by the talented engineer Darren Myers, this preamp features a fully balanced architecture from input to output.

The revolutionary power supply eliminates traditional electrolytic capacitors, replacing them with superior film capacitors that deliver lightning-fast transient response and deeper silence. This leads to greater dynamic swings housed within a double chassis construction that protects against noise and interference.

The preamplifier introduces a groundbreaking gain stage that combines both FET (field-effect transistor) and BJT (bipolar junction transistor) technologies. This design allows the preamp to operate in pure Class A mode, ensuring absolute signal integrity.

The unique folded cascode topology gives this circuit its edge—allowing for high voltage swings and low noise while maintaining bandwidth without the instability common in traditional designs.

PMG Signature 512 DAC

At the heart of the PMG Signature 512 DAC is the new PureStream DSD512 engine, which converts all digital audio into a pure 8X-DSD stream. This allows the DAC to bypass traditional PCM circuitry, avoiding decimation filters and engineering compromises altogether.

The 8X-DSD stream is processed through a newly designed SpectraWave 64-tap sequencer, which reduces noise and distortion while ensuring perfect time alignment of the signals. The signal then travels into a top-tier, direct-coupled analog output stage, representing a significant shift away from conventional DAC architectures.

The 512 DAC is equipped with PS Audio’s renowned Digital Lens technology, ensuring that incoming digital data is reorganized and re-clocked before reaching the PureStream engine. With features like galvanically isolated inputs, a built-in high-performance music streamer, and precision analog volume control, the PMG Signature 512 stands as a centerpoint for any no-compromise audio system.

PMG Signature Phono Preamplifier

The PMG Signature Phono Preamplifier was designed from the ground up by Darren Myers to ensure it offers uncompromising performance. With a state-of-the-art transimpedance input and zero-feedback topology, this phono preamp minimizes distortion, coloration, and noise.

It supports dual inputs for both moving coil and moving magnet cartridges, along with remote-controlled loading and gain options, making it adaptable to any system. Its fully discrete FET design provides massive headroom and ultra-low noise, enabling it to reproduce music with exceptional clarity and depth.

The unique transimpedance input allows cartridges a direct path to amplification, eliminating loading concerns while revealing incredible detail and texture. For traditionalists, the voltage input offers adjustable gain and loading, also controlled remotely.

Most impressively, the Signature Phono Preamplifier features a zero-feedback phono stage that achieves incredibly low noise and distortion levels through its rigorous design philosophy.

PMG Signature SACD Transport

The PMG Signature SACD Transport is designed to unlock the hidden magic of pure DSD from SACD discs. This splendid piece of technology stands out as PS Audio's finest optical disc transport created in over four decades.

Capable of reviving a CD collection when paired with any DAC, the transport features galvanically isolated outputs and an ultra-low jitter design. When connected via I²S, it can access the raw DSD layer of SACDs, revealing previously concealed musicality.

A new highlight of this model is the galvanically isolated output stage, which eliminates any noise or ground contamination, resulting in unprecedented levels of image separation and openness. Musical details that were once buried beneath noise and jitter come to life, allowing listeners to experience their music in a way they've never enjoyed before.
