In a recent fan-led press conference to celebrate her new album ‘Mayhem’, pop superstar Lady Gaga shared some heartfelt insights, revealing that the late John Lennon would be her dream collaborator. When asked about the artist she would love to work with — whether they were alive or not — Gaga didn’t hesitate in her answer.

“I think it would have been John Lennon. I think he had such a beautiful heart, and I think that’s one of my favorite things in the history of music,” she stated. “You don’t just remember an artist for their music but for their heart.”

A Tribute to Peace

During the conference, Gaga displayed her memorable peace sign tattoo, which she got as a tribute to Lennon. She shared, “This peace sign was right outside 72nd street by the Dakota, where he was sadly taken from the world. Yoko would put flowers outside, and I got this tattoo because of that. I never forgot what he stood for, and it’s what I stand for too.”

Reflecting on Artistic Struggles

Gaga also drew a parallel between herself and Lennon, referencing a 2011 interview where she expressed her ongoing struggle with artistic satisfaction. “I am perpetually unhappy with what I create,” she confessed. “Even though I might tell you that ‘Edge Of Glory’ is a pop masterpiece, I’ll always find things I dread about it.”

She recalled Lennon’s sentiments from a 1980 Playboy interview, where he mentioned that he disliked certain songs due to their final versions, despite them being loved by others.

Honoring Lennon’s Legacy

In 2012, Gaga was awarded the Lennonono Grant for Peace by Yoko Ono, showcasing her alignment with Lennon’s ideals. Additionally, she honored him by performing a cover of ‘Imagine’ during the opening of the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Musical Endeavors with Paul McCartney

That same year, Gaga was rumored to be collaborating with Lennon’s former Beatles bandmate, Sir Paul McCartney, on a project for the animated film High in the Clouds, based on McCartney’s children’s book. Gaga had posted pictures of them working together in the studio, indicating the excitement of the collaboration.

“Always a good time with my buddy,” Gaga remarked, recalling her disbelief when McCartney first called her to work together, as she thought it was a prank!

The Anticipation of 'Mayhem'

Fast forward to the present, Gaga’s highly awaited seventh album, ‘Mayhem’, dropped on March 7 after months of speculation. This new album follows her 2020 release, ‘Chromatica’, and her Joker: Folie a Deux companion record ‘Harlequin’ from last year.

‘Mayhem’ has received a four-star review, praised for its fun and chaotic energy. The review highlighted that Gaga stays true to her unique style without succumbing to modern pop trends. “Ultimately, ‘Mayhem’ feels like a great Gaga album because it’s just so much fun,” the review stated.

Exciting Performances Ahead

In other news, Gaga has delighted her fans in Mexico by announcing her first Mexico City stadium show in 13 years. She’s set to perform at Estadio GNP Seguros on April 26, with promises of delivering multiple songs from the ‘Mayhem’ tracklist.

Fans are also buzzing with speculation about a potential collaboration with Taylor Swift on the track ‘How Bad Do U Want Me?’ from her new album.
