Lana Del Rey's Upcoming Album Delayed and Renamed
Lana Del Rey's new album won't arrive on schedule and has a fresh title.
Album Delay Announcement
Lana Del Rey recently updated her fans with the news that her anticipated album will not “come on time” and will feature a new title. Just a day after releasing her latest single, ‘Henry, Come On Over’, she took to Instagram Reels to share insights about her recording process and provide additional details about her upcoming project, which has been previously known as ‘Lasso’ and, until recently, ‘The Right Person Will Stay’. Initially, she announced that the album was expected to drop on May 21.
As she wrapped up her message in the video, which also included information about her upcoming performance at the 2025 Stagecoach music festival, Lana teased, “You know it’s not gonna come on time, right?” with a pained expression. “Should I even tell you that the name changed again? Maybe I’ll wait.”
New Single and Upcoming Releases
Del Rey also disclosed that another single from the album, titled ‘Blue Bird,’ would be released sometime next week. Be sure to check out her video message below!
Cover Art and Tracklist Details
Following the recent release of ‘Henry, Come On Over’, attentive fans noticed that the cover art appeared to be derived from an iPhone screenshot. Lana previously mentioned that the yet-to-be-titled album will comprise 13 tracks, including ‘Henry, Come On’ and ‘Blue Bird’.
The ‘West Coast’ singer confirmed that this new record would explore the country music genre, featuring contributions from her regular collaborator Jack Antonoff and country artist Luke Laird. However, the title has changed since she initially planned to call it ‘Lasso’.
‘Henry, Come On’ also marks her first solo release in two years, following her collaboration with Quavo on ‘Tough’ in July.
Lyrics and Sound Evolution
In a previous interview, Lana spoke about the new album, hinting that the lyrics might have a lighter tone compared to her past work. “I’ve maybe less to say in terms of any self-revealing things like on ‘Tunnel’ or ‘Blue Bannisters’ or ‘Chemtrails Over The Country Club’, and just more melodic,” she explained. “Maybe more American Songbook style?”
Speculations and Future Plans
Since then, speculation has surrounded the sound, release date, and title of the album. Lana had initially expected the project to arrive last October but has since acknowledged the delay, attributing it to following her instincts while experiencing a “literal energetic pause”.
In addition to her new album, the ‘Cherry’ artist is gearing up for a UK and Ireland stadium tour this summer, with all dates supporting her new project. At the end of 2024, Lana became the highest-selling solo artist of the year, with her stadium tour completely selling out.
After announcing major shows in Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, Dublin, and London, which sold out quickly, demand prompted the addition of a second show in London.
Lana teased, “You know it’s not gonna come on time, right?”
