Machine Gun Kelly Honors Luke ‘Dingo’ Trembath with Emotional Tribute in ‘Your Name Forever’ Featuring Oli Sykes and Avenged Sevenfold

Machine Gun Kelly pays tribute to his late friend Luke ‘Dingo’ Trembath in the heartfelt single ‘Your Name Forever’ featuring Oli Sykes and Avenged Sevenfold.

Machine Gun Kelly has released a poignant new single titled 'Your Name Forever,' paying tribute to his late friend, Luke ‘Dingo’ Trembath. The track features vocals from Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon and members of Avenged Sevenfold, making it a powerful homage to the late Australian snowboarder.

The song's bittersweet tone reflects the loss of Trembath, who tragically passed away at the age of 38 last month. Alongside MGK, the track includes contributions from Avenged Sevenfold's M. Shadows and Synyster Gates, as well as Mod Sun, all of whom were close friends with Dingo.

A Celebration of Life

Shadows took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the song's video, expressing, “Dingo meant so much to us and many of our friends. SG and myself jumped on this song to celebrate his life. Shoutout to MGK for turning this around so quickly. Dingo is looking down smiling.”

On March 18, the Sam Cahill-directed video was released, featuring a montage of Dingo's life, interspersed with moments of mourning, including clips of mourners releasing doves in his memory.

“Tell me, did you know it was time to say goodbye? / Tell me, did the heavens align where angels fly?”

This haunting chorus from MGK encapsulates the emotional weight of the song.

The Story Behind the Song

Following the release, Kelly shared the backstory behind the song on his Instagram stories. He revealed that it came together during the final hours of Trembath's life.

“I appreciate everyone listening to ‘your name forever’, the song for our bro Dingo, that came about the same hour that he was passing away,” MGK shared. He described feeling an intense urge to create something meaningful and emotional, saying, “I had a weird feeling in my gut... the words I said was ‘I’m feeling angry’ – and we switched songs and started making that one."

He recalled that the only line he had laid down at the time was, “Someone call me back / I’ll paint my coffin black if no one will.”

A Moment of Reflection

Kelly further explained the emotional journey while writing the song, stating, “Actually, Slim [producer Brandon Allen] came and tapped me and said ‘Come to the kitchen, I need to tell you something’, and we went out and said a prayer, and the next phone call that we got was that he was gone."

He added, “Then clearly it turned into Dingo’s song. That was the purpose of why that started. So the next day we came back in and made one of probably the hardest songs I ever had to make in my career. Dingo forever.”

In an earlier post, he expressed the depth of his sorrow, stating, “Crazy… I didn’t even cry this hard when my dad died. I’ve lost a lot of friends, but I’ve never lost a brother. We’ll never get another Dingo on this planet. A true rockstar without ever needing to make a song, the most loyal, loud, charismatic, funny, and annoying human I’ve ever had the honour of knowing.”

Collaborations and Future Projects

MGK and Sykes previously collaborated on the 2022 track ‘Maybe,’ which made its live debut in Los Angeles during a performance at Emo Nite, a popular club night at the Avalon in Hollywood.
