Parlé VBC 2500: The Ultimate Conference Panel for Video Conferencing
Looking to enhance your video conferencing experience? Explore the features of Parlé VBC 2500, the ultimate conference panel designed for superior performance.
Video Conferencing Demand
Video conferencing continues to experience an unprecedented demand post-pandemic, and Biamp is eager to claim its share of the market. The company is stepping into the small and medium conference room space with its impressive Parlé VBC 2500.
Features of Parlé VBC 2500
The Parlé VBC 2500 is a versatile conference panel measuring nearly one meter in length, packed with a multitude of technologies honed by Biamp over 46 years in the professional audio and video equipment industry. While most competing VC panels offer a beamforming microphone array with five or six microphones, the VBC 2500 boasts a high-precision beamforming array composed of 27 microphone elements.
Equipped with a 4K UHD camera capable of shooting at resolutions up to 2160p at 30 frames per second, the VBC 2500 also features a wide 120° field of view (FoV) and digital pan, tilt, and zoom (PTZ) capabilities with 5x optical zoom. The camera is fitted with a mechanical shutter that automatically closes the lens when a meeting ends or the user disables video in the UC application.
The audio quality is exceptional, as Biamp has engineered a sound system for precise reproduction of human speech. This system includes a pair of 20-watt speakers housed in sealed enclosures, along with passive radiators to enhance low frequencies. Active distortion compensation ensures a smooth frequency response.
Installation of the Parlé VBC 2500
The installation options for the Parlé VBC 2500 are plentiful: it features a built-in foldable desk stand, and a metal wall-mounting bracket is included in the package. Behind the removable back panel, you'll find a port for an external power source and a USB-C port for connecting to a host device. For BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) usage, the VBC 2500 can be connected to an additional Biamp Devio SCR-10 desktop device.
A distinctive feature of Biamp is its automatic room tuning: simply connect the bar, press the start button underneath, and step back. The bar measures the room's acoustics by emitting a series of sounds straight out of a 1950s sci-fi film.
The Parlé VBC 2500 utilizes acoustic feedback to optimize the microphone array, speakers, and built-in digital signal processor (DSP) according to the environment. This means anyone can set up the VBC 2500, and the process remains unchanged if the device is moved to another room.
Installing the Parlé VBC 2500 took mere seconds. We connected it to a USB port on a Windows 10 Pro computer, and all necessary drivers downloaded automatically. Regarding video conferencing platform choice, it's entirely up to you—the VBC 2500 supports UVC (USB Video Class), and we encountered no issues using it with Skype, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
Settings of the Parlé VBC 2500
Video settings can be adjusted using Biamp's free Camera Controller app. Users can disable automatic framing and backlight compensation, manually control PTZ functions, mirror or flip the image, apply UC presets for Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Zoom, and save three presets for later use.
The video quality at 1080p is impressive, and we found the image to be sharp and clear, with good contrast and color reproduction. Backlight compensation works well, as does automatic focusing; the camera quickly focuses on the active speaker and tracks their movements throughout the conference room.
The audio quality of the Parlé VBC 2500 is even better—it's arguably the best we've tested among VC bars. Biamp's speaker technology delivers excellent sound with warm deep bass, natural voices, and without the harshness often found in smaller VC bars.
The Parlé VBC 2500 is also quite loud; we had to reduce the volume to 40% in our 24-square-meter conference room. Crank the volume up to maximum, and it follows you around; the sound remains uninterrupted.
While the Parlé VBC 2500 may not be as versatile as the Logitech Rally Bar, which supports BYOD and standalone modes thanks to its Android OS, Biamp does not lag in presentation quality. The video and audio quality are superb, with digital auto-focus responding quickly, and the intelligent startup mode simplifies conference room setup.
