Perfume Genius Takes the Stage
Perfume Genius, the creative project of Mike Hadreas, unveiled six tracks from their latest album ‘Glory’ during a stunning live performance in London earlier this week. The audience was treated to an unforgettable experience as Hadreas showcased his new work.
The album, which hit the shelves on March 28, marks the seventh installment in the Perfume Genius discography and follows the critically acclaimed ‘Ugly Season’ released in 2022.
An Evening of New Music
Just one day before the main event, Hadreas electrified fans at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London. He marked the occasion with the first-ever live renditions of singles including ‘Clean Heart’ and ‘No Front Teeth’, the latter of which features the ever-talented Aldous Harding on the recorded version. Another standout track performed was ‘It’s A Mirror’, which is turning heads and capturing hearts.
But the excitement didn't stop there! The performance also included live debuts of the tracks ‘Left For Tomorrow’, ‘In A Row’, and ‘Capezio’. To the delight of fans, Hadreas also revisited some beloved favorites like ‘Queen’ and ‘On The Floor’, alongside a beautifully haunting cover of Mazzy Star’s ‘Fade Into You’.

Behind the Music
Earlier this month, Hadreas opened up about the inspiration behind ‘Glory’ and emphasized the importance of mental well-being in the music industry. Reflecting on his journey, he mentioned:
“I think one of the things that makes me shy in my daily life is that I’m not gonna be taken seriously because I’m little or have a different way of communicating.”
He continued,
“I’ve felt a sense of purpose about the job that’s made me work on that. I’ve been really serious about [my music] and been rewarded by the fact that people are taking it seriously.”
In Conclusion
What an exciting time for Perfume Genius and their fans! With the live performances and the new album ‘Glory’, it’s clear that Hadreas is pushing boundaries and captivating audiences everywhere. Have you caught any of their live shows? What’s your favorite track from the new album?
