Shack to Perform First Gig in Over a Decade
Shack to Perform First Gig in Over a Decade
Shack returns to the stage with their first gig in over ten years, set for April 25 at Liverpool Olympia!
Shack's Melodic Comeback
After more than a decade of silence, Shack, the iconic Liverpudlian band, has announced an exciting return to the stage. The band, consisting of Michael Head, his brother John on guitar, Peter Wilkinson on bass, and Mick Hurst on drums, is all set to perform their first live show in over ten years on Friday, April 25 at the Liverpool Olympia.
Their debut album, ‘Zilch’, hit the music scene in 1988, followed by the long-awaited ‘Waterpistol’ in 1995. The latter came after a devastating fire destroyed all the masters of the album at their then-record label. Talk about a rocky road!
A Rich Musical History
Shack has had its ups and downs over the years. After briefly splitting, they reformed and released albums like ‘H.M.S Fable’ and ‘Here’s Tom With The Weather’. They later joined forces with Noel Gallagher’s Sour Mash label, releasing ‘The Corner Of Miles and Gil’ in 2007.
In recent years, Michael Head has also made waves with his project, Michael Head & the Red Elastic Band, whose album Dear Scott was released on The Coral’s record label, Modern Sky UK.
Excitement Builds Amongst Fans
Fans are buzzing with excitement over this announcement. Following the teaser posted on social media, users on X/Twitter have expressed their delight. One fan wrote, “Superb … long time coming!” while another eagerly exclaimed, “Already shouting for ‘Miles Apart’. Great news.”
Tickets for this nostalgic return go on sale this Saturday, March 1. Grab yours here to witness this monumental event!
A Special Addition to the Lineup
Excitingly, guitarist Nathaniel Laurence will be joining the band for this performance. He expressed his gratitude, stating: “Proud to say I’ll be performing as part of @Shack_Band when they reunite for their first gig in 15 years! Thanks so much to Mick, John & Wilko for making me feel so welcome.”
Reflecting on the Gigging Scene
Back in 2017, Head discussed the evolution of live performances with Confidentials, saying: “I massively prefer it now because you can actually see the appreciation of people who are there to see you. I applaud the crowd because we’re all in it together and a lot of them have been there since day one. It’s more than just coming to see some fella they know from Kenny. A lot of them feel like they’re part of it, which they are in my eyes.”
