Stereolab Hints at New Album with Mysterious Fan Packages
Get ready, Stereolab fans! New music is on the horizon as the band teases upcoming releases through intriguing packages sent to fans.
Stereolab’s Exciting New Music Tease
Stereolab, the iconic art-rock band, has sparked excitement among fans by hinting at new music. Recently, the group sent out mysterious packages, igniting speculation about upcoming releases. Founding members Lætitia Sadier and Tim Gane, who reunited in 2019 alongside former bandmates Andy Ramsay and Joseph Watson, have been keeping the music scene buzzing since their initial run from 1990 to 2009.
After years of touring globally and reissuing their albums on vinyl with expanded editions, fans are eagerly anticipating what’s next. The last album fans heard from the band was the intriguing 'Not Music?' released back in 2010.
The Mystery Package Reveal
As reported by Brooklyn Vegan, on March 31, Stereolab distributed their "Lab Report" newsletter, which featured an image captioned ‘Unsolicited Stereolab Material.’ Shortly after, they shared a tantalizing record image on their social platforms, leaving fans both curious and excited.
On April 2, UK fans received a special package that included a 7″ record featuring a track titled ‘Aerial Troubles’ on one side, complemented by an instrumental on the other side. To add to the fun, the package also contained a word search puzzle.
Fan Reactions and Discoveries
Fans quickly took to Reddit to share their experiences, with one user, Ape1720, revealing details about the package he received and even uploaded a snippet of ‘Aerial Troubles.’ Excitement soared as other fans uncovered intriguing terms in the included word search such as ‘Plastic Melodies,’ ‘Warp,’ ‘Sadier,’ ‘Tim Ramsay,’ and even the word ‘Album.’ Could these be hints at song titles from a forthcoming album? The word 'Warp,' likely referencing Warp Records, was also stamped on the package, further fanning the flames of speculation.
"Stereolab has always had a knack for engaging with their audience, and this time is no different."

Reissues and Affordable Editions
Earlier this year, Stereolab reissued seven of their classic albums, ranging from the groundbreaking 'Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Announcements' (1993) to the dreamy 'Margerine Eclipse' (2004). These albums were released with new standard editions designed to be more affordable for fans amidst economic challenges.
The band’s manager Martin Pike stated, “These new editions will use the 2019 remastered tracks, but they will no longer include the disk of demos or the track-by-track notes. The sleevenotes will be added to the archive on our website, and the demo versions will still be available to stream or purchase digitally.”
Fans can order the reissues here.
