Sam Fender performs in March 2025

Adam Granduciel, the frontman of The War on Drugs, notably produced Fender’s latest album, ‘People Watching’. The two artists reunited recently to perform together at Coachella, showcasing their musical chemistry. Reflecting on the experience, Granduciel expressed:

"I fell in love with him. He’s a savant."

He added, “Sam and the boys came out in March for about five weeks. We worked on some stuff they’d already started, then we worked on some more stuff from the ground up. It was awesome. I’d never met Sam, but we’d communicated once or twice.”

‘People Watching’ has received acclaim, with a glowing four-star review highlighting it as “reflective and perceptive indie rock from North Shields’ shining star.” The review emphasized how the album channels Fender’s feelings of disconnect and existential dread rooted in his rapid rise to fame.

In a four-star review of one of Fender’s concerts, it was noted that although there was no radical shake-up of the setlist, there was a palpable sense of self-confidence that suggested his career could reach new heights.
