A New Take on a Classic

Wes Borland, the talented guitarist of Limp Bizkit, recently put his unique spin on Metallica's iconic instrumental track, “Orion.” Over the weekend, he shared a captivating snippet of his reimagined version with fans, inviting them to experience a fresh interpretation of the 1986 classic.

Borland's cover comes as his band gears up to join Metallica on their upcoming tour, and fans are buzzing with anticipation. He posted the exciting news along with a video, stating, “Horsing around and loopidy loopin with ‘Orion’ by Metallica this afternoon. Anybody coming out to any of the shows this summer?”

Fan Reactions to the Cover

While Borland didn’t confirm if they would play the cover during their tour, many fans expressed their hope. Comments flooded in with enthusiasm:

  • One fan exclaimed, “It would sound amazing shaking an arena.”
  • Another added, “My absolute favorite instrumental just got a new paint job.”
  • A third fan shared, “I was just thinking about Orion and listened to it on Sunday. Love the reimagining you gave it.”

The Legacy of ‘Orion’

Originally featured on Metallica's groundbreaking album, Master of Puppets, “Orion” was largely crafted by the band's legendary bassist, Cliff Burton. Tragically, six months after the album's release, Burton lost his life in a bus accident while on tour. In a poignant tribute, the track was played at his funeral, and the notes from the song’s bridge were later tattooed on frontman James Hetfield's arm.

Upcoming Tour Highlights

Limp Bizkit is coming off a successful “Loserville” tour across the UK and Europe and is set to support Metallica on their extensive *M72* world tour. This tour will cover a variety of cities, including Toronto, Nashville, Philadelphia, Tampa, Santa Clara, and Denver from April to June. They will also share the spotlight with Ice Nine Kills, who will be part of the tour during the same months.

In addition to Limp Bizkit, the tour will see performances from Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies, alternating dates with Metallica and Ice Nine Kills. Later in the year, when Metallica heads to Australia and New Zealand, they’ll be joined by Suicidal Tendencies as well as the rock powerhouse Evanescence.

Festival Appearances

After their tour with Metallica, Limp Bizkit will perform at the North Dakota State Fair in July and then return to the UK for the renowned Reading & Leeds Festival in August. Vocalist Fred Durst is also set to make an appearance at Black Sabbath’s final live show in Birmingham on July 5.

New Music on the Horizon

Last November, the band revealed that they were back in the studio working on new music. Their last album, *Still Sucks*, released in 2021, marked a significant return for the band after a decade-long hiatus. Critics described it as a “lean and self-aware party-starter of a sixth album,” highlighting the band’s commitment to their roots without overthinking their craft.

In an exciting side note, Limp Bizkit’s classic hit “Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle)” has been featured as the theme song for Netflix's recent anime series, Devil May Cry.
